Our Aims

  • Create a lasting community asset, ensuring that the people of Hobsons Bay are able to access in perpetuity, a steadily growing corpus of funding for community development.

  • Highlight the great value of charitable giving and make it possible for donors to invest in, and see the benefits of, investing in their community during their lifetime.

  • Encourage interaction and partnerships between a range of people including donors, governments, businesses, community groups, local service providers and other charitable organisations, for the purpose of strengthening the local community and finding solutions to community challenges.

  • Act as a trustworthy partner and leader in shaping collaborative and effective responses to local community issues and opportunities.

  • Manage and invest funds prudently, to achieve Fund growth and returns for the benefit of our local community.

What We Do

Established in 2006, the Hobsons Bay Community Fund is an independent philanthropic Fund based in the Hobsons Bay region of Melbourne, that enables individuals, families, community groups and business to make financial donations that benefit the community in perpetuity.

These donations are retained as capital (the corpus) to build a perpetual Fund for philanthropic purposes, with the income from this capital used to make local community grants.

The HBCF partners with donors and community groups to facilitate grants that help to make the Hobsons Bay community fair, inclusive and vibrant.

The HBCF is run by a voluntary Incorporated Committee with no overhead costs - meaning that every dollar raised goes back into the Fund. The Fund receives a financial contribution from the Hobsons Bay City Council to cover the costs associated with employing a part-time Executive Officer.

The HBCF is registered as a sub-Fund of the Australian Communities Foundation.
