What is the Hobsons Bay Community Fund?
A community fund is about building the kind of future we want. It gives now, but is also a long-term investment to empower future generations. It grows an inheritance to address the issues young people will face when we are not there to help them out.
Since 2006, the HBCF has built up $800,000 and used the interest earned to make grants to community organisations across Hobsons Bay. So far 100 organisations have received grants totalling $250,000.
Additional donations increase the investment fund as well as the amount allocated each year to community organisations.
The Community Fund operates under the umbrella of the Australian Communities Foundation, whilst it is supported by Council, it is run independently by a voluntary board and supported by local businesses.
This means that it is locally owned and operated with no overhead costs. Every dollar raised goes into the fund.

Andy didn’t say 2 words in 12 weeks, then…At the end of graduation day, kids and parents were enjoying their usual sausage and bread, when Andy held up his trophy and said, “Today is the best day cause I got my trophy”. His longest ever sentence – everyone was silent and his mum welled up with tears. It was truly a magical moment.
Sporting Network of Autistic People and Parents (SNAPP) and CONGS Cricket club Williamstown ran a program with 28 kids (23 of them Autistic). The Inclusion was so successful that parents of the 5 Neuro Typical children were not aware that the majority of kids were Autistic.
